Mental health services ‘living well’ in Tameside

Date Released - 06/02/2023

MENTAL HEALTH and wellbeing services in Tameside celebrated the transformation of a local partnership which gives patients improved care and support across the borough.

Living Well Tameside connects multiple organisations to ensure residents have flexible responsive services that meet their needs.

A relaunch at Dukinfield Town Hall on Thursday 2 February saw organisations from across the borough come together to discover how the service has transformed and developed in the past 12 months.

Living Well Tameside consists of multiple services, brought together in one place including Minds Matter, the Neighbourhood Mental Health Team, SAFE Tameside, and the High Intensity Use service.

A number of these services have been developing since 2018 but have now joined together to focus on supporting people who experience mental health crisis and to live well in Tameside.

Living Well Tameside is a partnership made up of The Big Life group, Pennine Care NHS Foundation TrustTameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind, and The Anthony Seddon Fund, commissioned by Tameside Integrated Care Board.

The ethos of Living Well is that no one organisation has the answer therefore the formal partnership does not stop there. The mental health system collaborates with a wide range of services, which have huge impacts on the lives of people living with mental illness. This includes relationships with housing providers, the local authority, drug and alcohol services, local police and physical health.

The event relaunched and promoted new ways of working established in the partnership after listening to people who use the services. Through the revamped Living Well Tameside, people can now access these mental health services through one central place, instead of dealing with referrals to and from multiple organisations.

Cllr Eleanor Wills, Tameside Council Executive Member for Population Health and Wellbeing, said: “The Living Well Tameside service has a fantastic mental health and wellbeing offer for our residents, who will be able to access support as and when they need to.

“Living Well Tameside will respond to what people need on the ground, understand what support residents need and adapt their offers or influence what services are commissioned in the borough.”
